Asia

An Overview of Asia

Asia is one of the world’s largest and most diverse continents. It hosts some of the highest mountain ranges in the world, alongside the harshest highlands. Additionally, it is home to the some of the most potent deserts, seas and monsoon jungles.

The nations of Asia have served as keystone societies for all of history. They are among the first to cultivate records and history, granting humanity insight into the unfathomably distant past. The nations here are distinct, proud and varied cultures which enrich the world.

The countries of Asia have collectively earned the name “The East” in Western Societies. Their cultures have historically been valued for fine goods, world-shaking inventions and an entirely different way of philosophy and life.

Old Sean in Asia

My first long-term adventures abroad were to Asia, where I originally works as an ESL Teacher. I spent years traveling through ancient villages, endless mountains, tropical seas and thriving supercities.

Though not continuous, I lived in Asia for over two years. During that time, I lived in Central China, South Korea and Vietnam. I was also fortunate enough to visit the tundra of Mongolia, the tropical lands of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Singapore and more. Just before the onslaught of COVID, I wandered through Japan’s cities, forests and splendor.

It is my pleasure to record my favorite locations, destinations and insights above.

Best regards and excellent trails,

Old Sean
