An Overview of Europe
Europe, popularized as the Old World, is home to some of the most powerful, expansive and largely contested nations on Earth. The regional inheritors to Vikings, Celts, the Roman Empire, Pagan strongholds, the Catholic Hierarchy and thousands of tribes, cultures and languages, there are few places on Earth more diverse or compelling.
Modern Europe is notorious as the central battlegrounds in World War I and II with modern, rich agricultural lands and an advanced industrial diversity. The continent has remained a nexus of commerce for centuries. The land is defined by deep forests, considerable mountain ranges, the icy seas around the Baltics and balmy, beautiful coasts of the Mediterranean.
For visitors, Europe is a land with many diverse languages and cultures. The continent is home to over 400 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, many of which receive lavish attention and restoration efforts. Europe is considered the most predominant tourist destination in the world. Travelers can visit year after year and continuously see new and beautiful sites, artistic landmarks and culinary oppertunities.

Old Sean in Europe
While my very first trips abroad sent me to Mexico, I was still a teenager in University during my first trips overseas. At the time, I was ill-prepared for long adventures and spent weeks stumbling and bumbling through Europe. This journey proved to be a godsend, with strangers guiding me along and adventures compiling upon one another.
I began in Turkey, visiting and falling in love with Istanbul before striving north to see Germany, the Netherlands and other pockets of northern Europe. Years later, I would return again for work, visiting dozens of countries on the continent.
Europe remains, in my my mind, a magical and profound part of the world. The nations are distinct leaders of culture, opportunity and vision. The history found here shook nations and created some of the most powerful and notorious empires, republics and tribes anywhere on Earth. Ideas birthed in Europe would one day become the defining philosophies which guided the world.
It’s impossible to understand how much I appreciate Europe. Though I’ve managed to visit many times, I hope to visit many more.
