An Overview of Central America
Central America is a narrow landmass which allows for travel between North and South America, containing the countries Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize. The region is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, with Caribbean lowlands, year-round tropical climates, Pacific coastal plains and mountainous interiors.
The beauty of Central America is difficult to overstate, as the relatively small landmass is home to a wide range of environments and incredible biodiversity. There are sandy beaches, mountainous cloud forests, volcanic peaks, crystal blue waters, low islands, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, hidden cenotes, old Mayan ruins and brightly colored waterfalls.
For ages, the region was dominated by the Mayans and other prominent native tribes, including the Xinka, Garifuna, Ngäbe, Buglé and numerous others. The region was largely influenced by Spanish colonials, with many of their colonial cities thriving to this day.

Old Sean in Central America
Some of my fondest months spent exploring and relaxing were during my time in Central America. The cultures of the region and temperament of the lands create a sensation of peace uncommon to other parts of the world.
Over the years, I’ve explored ruins, mountains, rainforest, cloud forest, seas, beaches and volcanos throughout Costa Rica, Panama, Guatamala, Belize and El Salvador. In each location, I was able to move slowly and mindfully, enjoying the region for its natural beauty.
Though I rarely spent time in cities during my visits to Central America, I learned to appreciate the people I met in these regions, who were steadfastly helpful, good natured, and generally laid back.
