The large city is home to the largest port and shipping system in Texas, as well as a musuem district, a dense urban sprawl and diverse neighborhoods. Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern

Though this large cistern was once an underground reservoir for drinking water, it was decommissioned and converted into an underground art installation site. Unique light performances among endless pillars creates interesting visuals for visitors.

ArtCar Museum

The ArtCar Museum of Houston is a private museum known for its fusion of vehicles, fine arts and unique designs. The Museum hosts vehicles with attatched ornaments, colorful paint jobs, creative theme-designs, extended yak heads and other quirky features.

National Museum of Funeral History

This rather solemn museum holds a large collection of artifacts and vehicles dedicated to the cultural heritage around death and departure. There are old-fashioned hearses, ornate funeral carriages, elaborate coffins and other interesting relics.

Eclectic Menagerie Park

This large, outdoor art park contains a private collection of steel monsters near a Texas pipe works. There are spider-like monstrosities, elevated vehicles, metal mariachi bands and more.

Beer Can House

This is a folk-art house created by Houstonian John Milkovisch. The building is almost completely covered in an outer shell of beer cans, beer bottles and beer paraphernalia. The house has remained something of a local icon since the 1960s.

Smither Park

This urban green space is best known for its vast collection of mosaics and folk-artworks. There are mosaic-covered statues, walls, pathways, stages, buildings and awnings. As a public venue, entry to the amazing park is always free.

Found in Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park near Williams Tower, this is a beautiful public artwork utilizing a curving wall to create a series of artful waterfalls.

1940 Air Terminal Museum

This is a spacious art-deco museum dedicated to aviation history with a strong focus the planes, aircrafts, uniforms and memorabilia regarding civil aviation heritage.

Lone Star Flight Museum

This is a prominent aerospace musuem which displays over 20 well-preserved, historically significant aircraft. Some of the aircrafts include the B-17 Flying Fortress, North American B-25 Mitchell, T-6 Texan and the PT-17 Stearman. The Museum also has a flying Douglas DC-3.
