Visiting Washington DC: Wander Ease

“So much of revisiting old friends while on the road feels like returning home.” – Old Sean

Capital Reconnect

Following my brief visits between my friends and grandmother in North Carolina, I next worked my way towards Washington DC, where I sought out an old friend of mine named Carl.

Currently, Carl works in a sensitive job field. As such, I have to somewhat shroud what an unmitigated and brilliant badass this man is. I haven’t seen Carl in quite some time, so getting a chance to talk to him was an enormous patch for my soul.

While visiting, we sat down and watched his esoteric media recommendations, including the Australian-produced television serious known as Danger 5, This series is worthy of multiple rewatches. The central theme involves an elite special operations agency consisting of five attractive alcoholics thwarting all of Hitler’s most devastating plans.

I’m recommending it now.  Be a proper American.  Watch Danger 5.  Be amazed at the wonder and atrocity.

When I wasn’t holding my sides from laughing, we visited a Tiki Bar (Service Bar DC), ate some Ethiopian dishes at the wonderful Ghion Ethiopian Restaurant, watched Avenger’s Endgame and put up a few projector shows on the wall while guzzling harrowing amounts of coffee.

While Carl was at his undisclosed job, I occupied myself by doing another mini-lap of DC, grabbing a red-ale at an Irish pub, visiting the National Portrait Gallery and feeding myself ice cream.

Finally, that concluded my time visiting Washington DC. It was time to depart again, and I turned my battered Buick in reverse to visit my aunt in Virginia.  I was granted a homemade pizza, stayed the night and drove onwards once more.

I’m off to see my father in Delaware next.

So until then,

Best regards and excellent trails,

Old Sean

Merino Wool Travel Buff

I often travel with a piece of equipment called a “buff” or “magic scarf.” This simple tube of stretchy fabric is the ultimate multitool. It can be a sleeping mask, a head covering, ear covers in cold weather or a scarf. I highly recommend the Multiuse Merino Wool Travel Buff. The two I’ve used have lasted since 2016. They’re versatile, tough, handy and machine-washable.
