Visiting Sacramento: Tag and Pivot

“Go as far as you’d like for as long as you can, but home is hard to evade.” – Old Sean

Sacramento Dawn

Following a day exploring San Francisco, I drove towards the capital of California, Sacramento.

During the drive, it was quite rainy. But the following day, I had a certain amount of luck on my wings as clouds broke in the morning.

I started my day by exploring Old Town Sacramento. As the sun continued to rise, I meanderer around the river, receiving free saltwater toffee samples from the Candy Heaven candy shop. In the same area, I watched actors wearing Gold-Rush era outfits and other turn-of-the-century attire. I spent such a long time in the area, I ended up stopping for breakfast at one of the local diners before I angled towards the city’s interior.

Soft Walk

Following my morning in Old Town, I spent the next segment of my day meeting with locals and conducting interviews. Sacramento is my last official stop on this tour, so I’m happy to allow things to wind down somewhat.

Instead of rushing all over creation, I finished my interviews and casually strode through other points of interest, eventually settling down once I was hungry again. I made a point of swinging past the State Capitol Building before getting a sandwich from Pennisi’s Deli.

Pennisi’s Deli was excellent. Their Italian Sub is worth punching an alligator for.  Not that I condone punching alligators, just setting the figurative standard.

My remaining time was spent downtown, around the zoo and wandering William Land Regional Park.  And then I was done.  It was time to go.

Roads On Home

In the span of a month, I’d started in Texas, drove to the East Coast, wandered up to Canada, cut through the Great White North, ducked back into the United States Midwest, hopped over the Rockies, lounged on the West Coast and officially finished my itinerary.

Tomorrow, I begin the long, long drive back to Texas, where I’ll drop off a rental car with an obscene number of miles on it. My only stop before returning to my home state is Phoenix, where I’m eager to visit a friend.

So until then,

Best regards and excellent trails,

Old Sean

iClever Remote Keyboard

Sometimes, when traveling, I don’t have a dedicated workspace. But the iClever Remote Keyboard solved this for me. The remote, folding keyboard is light and compact, allowing me to type on any surface to any device. It’s instrumental in operating this site.
